Eating out in Dubai: Armani/Hashi- Japanese food with a great view of the Dubai fountains

Dubai is the place where the world gets together. With over 85 % of the population being expats and over 14.5 million overnight visitors in 2015 from all over the world, it is no wonder that this diversity also reflects in the cuisine.

There is nothing you can’t find here. Indian, Lebanese, Italian, Japanese… There is a high chance they will have it there. Not only will you have a large choice, but you will also have your food cooked by some of the world’s best chefs. Going out for dinner in Dubai is certainly an experience.

During our quick stopover we were looking for a special place to eat and definitely found what we were looking for. We made a reservation at Armani/Hashi, a Japanese restaurant that belongs to the Armani Hotel located in the one and only Burj Khalifa.

Armani/Hashi is not located high up in the Burj Khalifa as we first expected but on the ground floor. It is open daily from 7pm to 11pm.

Outside on a panoramic terrace you will have the best seats to watch the Dubai fountain in a vibrant setting while enjoying cocktails, sushi, sashimi and other authentic Japanese dishes.

We first enjoyed a drink outside on the terrace watching the fountain show and admiring the majestic view of the Burj Khalifa. Nights in Dubai are mild and with a light jacket you can enjoy sitting outside all year round.

For dinner we decided to go inside the restaurant as you have the option to sit just where the chef cooks right in front of you and prepares the dishes. A really cool experience.

The waitress brought us the menu and explained it to us. Armani/Hashi offers an imaginative twist on traditional and contemporary cuisine. There is a wide range of culinary styles including sushi, tempura, robatayaki and teppanyaki and some unique dishes you won’t find anywhere else like foie gras spring rolls.

Since we weren’t familiar with some of the dishes the waiter helped us make a choice and offered us her recommendations. If you want to try a bit of everything I certainly can recommend you the set menu.

We opted for a variety of different sushi and the recommended starter. Everything got freshly prepared for us and arrived quick.ly It not only looked mouth-watering but was absolutely delicious. One of my favorite type of sushi is the ‘Spicy tuna roll’ and the one I tried at Armani/Hashi was outstanding. The fish they use is so fresh and flown in daily from various parts of the world.

We chatted with the restaurant manager and once I highlighted that I have never had such good Japanese food before, she decided to order some dishes for us to taste. Everything once again was specially prepared for us in front of our eyes. She kept on brining food to our table explaining the dishes and asked us to try it. We got exceptional sashimi, followed by some other dishes and finished the dinner with a platter of Mochi ice cream. All the dishes we had were really good and considering the great quality of the food you really get good value for the price you pay. Every Friday of the week they also offer a brunch where you get the chance to try a vast selection of buffet starters, followed by a seafood and sushi platter and dessert.

If you are looking for great food in a sophisticated setting this is just the place for you. The views from the terrace of the fountain show that displays every 30 minutes are glorious.

For us it was a very special end to a great vacation which we won’t forget. And for an experience like that we don’t mind paying a little bit more. You know what, all this food is already getting me excited about my upcoming trip to Japan this year.

Don’t you get hungry just looking at those pictures?
