If you are planning a trip to Paris and looking…
Imagine yourself looking out of your hotel room window and your mouth drops open because of the view. This happened to me more than once during my stay at the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore. From my room I could overlook the entire Marina Bay, the iconic Singapore flyer and the skyscrapers of the business district. The view at daytime is already impressive, but wait until it turns night and Singapore lights up. It is magical.
The Mandarin Oriental, Singapore is situated in Marina Bay opposite the Esplande and the Theatres on the Bay. The perfect location whether you are coming for business or leisure and a great starting point to discover all that Singapore has to offer. It is only minutes away from the central business district and a lot of the famous attractions and sights are in walking distance from the hotel. If you are looking for fabulous restaurants or shopping options you will also find them nearby.
The Mandarin Oriental Experience
No one does luxury quite like the Mandarin Oriental. When I arrived by taxi, the staff opened the door for me and warmly welcomed me. While I was guided to the reception for check-in, they already took care of my luggage. Once I stepped in, I was stunned by the beautiful architecture of the hotel which is shaped like their iconic fan. Check-in was quick and easy and one of the staff members accompanied me up to my room and explained me the features of it. I stayed in the Marina Bay View Room that with floor-to-ceiling windows offers a breathtaking view of Singapore’s skyline.
The room was very generous in size equipped with the finest amenities to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible. King-size bed, a pillow menu to choose from, large flat-screen TV, minibar, a study, a large wardrobe and so on. The bathroom is separated by a glass panel fitted with Venetian blinds and is equally spacious with a walk-in shower and bathtub. In case you forgot something when packing don’t worry, you will find a comb, toothbrush and toothpaste, sewing kit, luxurious bath products and more.
While I was looking around the room it was knocking on the door and one of the friendly staff welcomed me with the signature tea served in a beautiful tea set. I was sipping on the tea overlooking the Marina Bay and already felt at home.
During your stay make sure to visit one of the restaurants. From cappuccinos and cocktails to cuisines from all around the world- you will find something for your taste. I can especially recommend the delicious Italian dishes in the relaxed pool-side restaurant Dolce Vita or the authentic Cantonese cuisine at the atmospheric Cherry Garden. And don’t miss breakfast at MELT- the international breakfast buffet. I could have stayed there for hours and eat my way through endless amount of delicious food. You will find everything you can imagine: freshly baked pastries, tropical fruit, soups, Indian curries, an area of cut cheeses and meats etc.
What I also want to highlight is the outstanding service. Despite the size of the hotel, all the staff made sure to take their time to talk to each guest and even remembered what I had to drink the previous morning.
Another thing which amazed me was the beautiful welcome gift that was waiting for me when I returned from a day of sightseeing. Next to a handwritten card was a box with a colorful fan inside and a plate with delicious pastries. It really were the little things like that, that made my stay truly remarkable.
The outdoor swimming pool is another highlight, so make sure to take a break from sightseeing and go for a swim while enjoying a great view of the skyline. Relax on the sun beds or jump in the pool to refresh- it really feels like an oasis in the heart of the city. You can also find a well-eqipped gym and a spa in the hotel -making it the ultimate urban retreat.
