After a nice 9,5 hour flight from Frankfurt I had…
Bali Diary Day 13-15: Our own private pool villa at Awarta Nusa Dua Luxury Villas and Spa
Our next stop of our trip is taking us to Nusa Dua, a peninsula in South Bali. The area is known for glorious white beaches, safe swimming and great water sports and golfing. Here you can choose from a variety of luxurious accommodation, golf resorts and great restaurants. For two nights we decided to stay at the beautiful Awarta Nusa Dua Luxury Villas and Spa.
We had pick up arranged by the resort. They arrived in time at our accommodation to pick us up and we didn’t get picked up by any car, but by a white Daimler Chrysler limousine. I don’t know much about cars but even I was left stunned. From Seminyak it is a 30 minute drive to reach Nusa Dua, same also goes to get to Nusa Dua from the airport. We had some magazines and water waiting for us in the car and the drive was very comfortable and easy.
The friendly staff welcomed us to the resort and what is really unique is, that each guest gets their very own 24 hour private butler to make the stay as pleasant as possible. He greeted us and first showed us around the hotel area where a pool, different restaurants, a large spa and fitness area can be found.
The Awarta Nusa Dua Resort has 14 villas designed in Peranakan style and we got to stay in the one-bedroom pool villa. Our butler opened the door to our villa, then asked us to take a seat. It is a ritual here that before you enter the villa, you get your feet washed and receive a short foot massage. After that we proceeded with the in-villa private check in and received the key. After a quick tour he told us to call for him if we need anything else. We were really flashed by our pool villa, which was definitely the most beautiful villa we have ever stayed in. It is extremely spacious with a size of 353-square meters featuring a large garden with a private pool and spacious indoor/outdoor living and dining area, spa-style bath, an indoor and outdoor shower and nice teak and rosewood furniture. In the living area there is a complimentary mini bar which is filled daily, a coffee machine and tea making facilities. There is also fresh fruit and cake that guests receive daily.
The phone was ringing and our butler was asking us if we would like to have afternoon tea in the restaurant or in our villa. We ordered it to our villa and got to choose which tea and what kind of juice we would like to have.
Shortly it arrived and we set the tray up on the sun bed by the pool. They afternoon tea consisted of a variety of sweet and savory snacks and there were even some yummy Indonesian treats which I didn’t know before it.
After our afternoon tea we decided to walk down to the nearby beach which is only 10 minutes away and go for a swim. There is also a shuttle available from the resort that brings you and also offers to pick you up.
After we returned from the beach we made a reservation at Ru Yi which we were keen on trying out. Ru Yi is a stylish yet casual restaurant were authentic Chinese cuisine from mainland China and Hong Kong are reimagined to create new and exotic flavors.
The location and the menu that we had was on point. We really liked the fact that the food was really authentic and nothing like the food you get in Chinese restaurants in Western countries. Though this might not be for everyone. With the dinner we also got a free flow of Chinese tea.
The moon was shining and it was still warm, so we decided to take a little late night swim in our private pool and then took a bath in the whirlpool while watching some TV.
In the morning we slept in and got ready for breakfast. We got called from the reception to let us know that the breakfast was finished in an hour to ensure we didn’t miss it and they asked us whether we want to have it in the villa or in the restaurant. Very attentive.
We went to the restaurant and sat down. The breakfast menu offers a lot of choice. You could choose between for example an Asian style breakfast or a healthy style breakfast and then also order some extra dishes you fancy. Breakfast was sumptuous and delicious and there really is something for everyone.
In Nusa Dua area and surroundings there is a lot to do. There are exclusive spas, galleries and boutiques. If you feel like being active you can go surfing or diving at the turquoise coast.
We decided to hire a driver for the day and discover a bit more. Fist stop was at the Uluwatu temple, one of the six key temples believed to be the spiritual pillars of Bali. The temple is known for its significant location built on top of a cliff. I have been there on a previous visit to Bali, but really liked the temple and wanted my boyfriend to see it. When you enter you get a sarong to cover up and then you can walk up the steps leading you to the gorgeous temple.
From there we then went to Single Fin, a bar and surf shop located on the majestic cliffs of Uluwatu. From there you can overlook the infamous Uluwatu surf break and watch the surfers ride the waves while drinking an ice cold Bintang and listen to the tunes of the DJ. It is just a really relaxed and nice hang out spot throughout the day and gets busy in the evening since everyone comes here to enjoy the sunset. Until late at night the party goes on.
Our driver then took us to a local warung where we tried Babi Guling, a speciality in Bali, before taking us back to Nusa Dua. As we arrived back at the resort the staff at the reception asked us about our day and we spent a few hours talking about this and that plus they gave us some really nice recommendations for the last couple of days that we had left in Bali.
For the second night we moved to ‘The Royal Orchad’ villa, which is known for being the honeymoon villa. The highlight is the large outdoor bathtub that they filled up prior to our arrival.
It looked so inviting that I had to glide in the water for a relaxing bath.
The next morning we had breakfast in the restaurant again and I must say the breakfast at Awarta was one of the best breakfast we had during our Bali holiday.
For our last day we had a couple spa treatment booked at the resorts ‘Thevana Spa’. Perfect if it is raining in Bali or if you want to treat yourself to something special. Here you can find yourself exquisitely connected to the beauty and health that surrounds you through a range of indigenous spa treatments, healing experiences, relaxation and fitness facilities. They also have a sauna and Kneipp therapy. Homemade ingredients and hand-crafted treatments are available to suit skin and body requirements.
The spa manager welcomed us with a refreshing tea and we could choose an oil we liked for the massage, she then explained us the treatment that we were getting. It was their Heritage treatment where you get pampered for 2.5 hours. My partner and I got to enjoy that together in the couples room. The treatment starts off with an hour massage, followed by a scrub made of heated herbs, ground rice, turmeric and nutmeg to promote blood circulation, then a Cleopatra bath where you can soak in milk and honey with a fruit platter on the site and last but not least a green tea and sesame facial. It was so incredible relaxing and heals and rejuvenates your mind, body and soul.
Once we changed back to our clothes we got to take a sit in the relaxing area where some freshly cut fruit and some water was waiting for us and really rounded up this experience.
We had a late check out arranged so we could enjoy our gorgeous villa a little bit longer before it was time to go back to Seminyak. I was reading by the pool, going for a swim and enjoying the sunshine.
Later in the afternoon it was time to check-out. Our butler took care of our suitcases and when we got back to the lobby the Daimler Chrysler was already waiting for us, ready to take us to our next location.
Our stay was really unforgettable and I can’t thank the staff enough for making our time spent at Awarta Nusa Dua Villas and Spa so special.
