Warsaw is definitely not your usual destination for a city…
MEININGER Hotel Vienna Downtown Sissi Review
Vienna is known as the “city of dreams” and also the “city of music”. It is the gate to Eastern Europe and home to the greatest coffee house culture in the world.
For me, Vienna was always this glorious, fairytale city I have dreamed of when hearing the romantic legend of Sissi and Franz.
Overview
You can imagine that I was head over heels when I found out that the Meininger Hotel has two hotels in Austria’s capital with that theme: The Downtown Sissi and the Downtown Franz. As a fan of the movies a stay in one of those hotels is a must and I was very happy to call the Downtown Sissi my residence for the night. If you are planning a city trip to Vienna this hotel offers you everything you need in a central location even for a small budget.
MEININGER is a young and expanding hotel chain with a great philosophy. It combines the best of hotels and hostels in one. Offering travelers a great atmosphere, comfortable, modern rooms and the most central location to a great price. The concept has been very successful and now you can find 16 MEININGER hotels in 10 European cities.
The Meininger Hotel Downtown Sissi Experience
The Meininger Hotel Downtown Sissi positions itself in the heart of the city. The main attractions – Stephansdom, Museumsquartier, Opera, Prater and Karlsplatz can be reached easily by public transport in 5-1o minutes. Perfect for a day full of exploring.
As you enter the Downtown Sissi from the street, you enter the lobby and will directly discover some sweet, little details like a picture of Sissi and Franz and a little crown on the reception desk. The thoughtful design made me smile already. The check-in was easy and fast and soon I held the key card to the room in my hand. The receptionist was very helpful and gave me a brief information about the hotel and its facilities. One great thing is the late check-out for everyone who likes to sleep a little bit longer. I was also very happy to hear that there is a luggage room where you can store your bags free of charge which comes very handy if you arrive before check-in time or want to walk around Vienna after you checked out already. A nice touch is also the free WIFI in the entire hotel, the bicycle hire, the guest kitchen and a lounge room with a bar and billiard table.
A lift lead up to my room and walking down the corridor I discovered another Sissi detail. When entering the room I was very positively surprised how spacious the room was. I had a double room with a king size bed, but single or familie rooms can also be booked.
Everything which you expect from a good hotel can be found. The bathroom is small, but very modern and clean- soft towels, soaps and lotions are provided for you.
I loved that there was also a Sissi picture above the bed and I surely slept like a princess.
In the morning I went down for breakfast which can be booked extra for a small price of 7.90€. The buffet offers a lot of great choices of bread, cheese, meat, eggs, fruit, cereal, yogurt and juices. The breakfast buffet left no wishes open and you will start your day in the city full of energy.
This hotel is perfect for you if you are looking for a budget-friendly hotel in the city center that provides you with all the comforts you need.
