Checking in: Sri Panwa, Phuket

Checking in: Sri Panwa, Phuket

For the last night of our Thailand trip we decided to end a memorable holiday at Sri Panwa, a stunning luxury hotel located high atop Cape Panwa at the southeastern tip of Phuket. Sri Panwa is known as one of the best hotels in the country and has been featured in a lot of big publications. So of course staying there was something I was looking forward a lot and during our stay we didn’t want to leave the property for one second- if that doesn’t proof it all.

From Patong we took the taxi to get to Cape Panwa. During this 45 minute drive we left the crowds behind and drove down to one of the most gorgeous coastlines you will find. The property of Sri Panwa with its 40 acres is very spacious offering the maxinum of privacy. As we got out of the taxi we found ourself in a lush and tropical surrounding. We stepped in the building were the reception was located and I would lie if I said that the view from up there didn’t leave us speechless. As the hotel is located high above Cape Panwa you have a mesmerizing view of ocean and the peninsula from up here.

We got greeted with a friendly smile by the staff and were welcomed with a refreshing towel and ice tea while someone took care of the check-in process.

From there we got taken to our room by the Sri Panwa’s very own tuk tuk service. As the property is very big you can request a tuk tuk that takes you wherever you want to go: to your room, to one of their various pools, restaurants or to the bar.

Sri Panwa offers various pool villas of different sizes from one to two bedrooms, to even three to five bedrooms all of course featuring panoramic ocean views and are located either on the sunrise or sunset side.

We were really lucky and got to stay in one of the Penthouses, their latest addition to this oasis of calm and luxury. The Penthouse Suites are incredibly spacious with 140 square meters of living space. As you walk in you find yourself in the large living room that features a big couch, TV, an iPod with full play list and Bose speakers and a kitchenette with a Nespresso machine and fridge. We found a good selections of snacks and drinks that were all complimentary and get replenished daily.

Both the bedroom and the bathroom with a free standing bath tub and rain shower were separate. The entire penthouse suite is held in a luxurious, contemporary design with a tropical touch.

My personal highlight was our very own private infinity pool from where we were able to see the sun set in the Andaman Ocean from up to 60 meters above sea level.

Around the hotel

We really loved our penthouse suite that we could have easily spend the entire stay relaxing there, but as Sri Panwa is known for its beautiful property and their great facilities we simply had to leave our own four walls and go out to explore. There are so many beautiful spots to choose from that look just so inviting. Just in front of our residence we found this beautiful pool surrounded by lush, green nature.

On the property you will also find a beach pool with its own little pool bar from where you can get refreshing, cold drinks and the latest travel magazines. Climb down the stairs and you will reach the private beach of the hotel. Enjoy a dip in the sea or lounge on one of their beach chair. If you have a passion for boating you will be happy to hear that they have a 100 meter long pier making the property even accessible for larger boats.

If you want to be active during your holiday the hotel has two tennis courts and a fully equipped gym with state-of-the-art equipment. You will even find a boxing ring here, if you feel like trying out traditional Thai boxing.

Swimming, snorkeling or diving are just at your footstep and some of Thailand’s most beautiful islands are less than an hour away.

Enjoy a treatment at the Cool Spa or have a cocktail at the popular Baba Nest and watch the sunset to end the day in this perfect paradise.

The Food

I am a real foodie and one thing I love about hotel stays is the breakfast. Yes, I admit it. I love sitting at breakfast for hours, trying everything from the breakfast buffet or their menu.

The breakfast at Sri Panwa will easily make it in my top ten of all hotel breakfast. First of all you can choose a table either inside their stylish restaurant or outdoors next to the 25-meters infinity-edge lap pool. As we took our seat one of the waitresses brought us the menu from where you could choose drinks and warm dishes like eggs benedict, my faves. Their buffet was everything you could wish for: Pastries, fruits, homemade jams, cut meats and cheeses plus Asian and Western favorites- think dim sum or curries and pancakes or oatmeal.

Unfortunately we didn’t try any of their dining options, though I can only recommend to check out one of their restaurants. Sri Panwa has it all: Japanese Cuisine at Baba Iki, home-cooked Thai food at Baba Soul Food, as well as Chinese and International Cuisine.

To sum it up

We had so many special moments at Sri Panwa and I can highly recommend you to experience a luxury vacation at this special place yourself. Cape Panwa is the perfect location away from the mass tourism that we experienced in Patong. It really is a quiet and charming place with a lovely local market and many small restaurants. At Sri Panwa you will spent a holiday you won’t forget and with so many choice on what to do, you won’t get bored. The spacious penthouse suite was a beautiful home away from home where I would have loved to just move in and stay forever.
